‘I started working with Jacky and using Pilates for several reasons. As a triathlete, it is important to have a strong stable body that can deal with the stress of each discipline. Taking part in Pilates helped improve my running off the bike; I was able to maintain a good run technique through good core control. Pilates also helped with injury prevention as I become more aware of my body. I also found my weekly hour of Pilates became a great escape from my normal gruelling routine! I was switching off my mind yet switching on my body!’

In January of this year, for the 3rd time in 12 months my back gave way whilst I was running and I was completely debilitated, yet again.  I was in constant pain, and I couldn’t even put my socks on without sitting down. My age (51), my job (constantly sitting hunched over documents) and my generally shocking posture were significant contributory factors as I was to learn, but vanity and bloody mindedness made me baulk at the mention of Pilates. Step forward Jacky Pugh, recommended (thankfully!) by a friend. As a result of one to one Pilates classes Jacky has completely transformed the way I approach my posture and the way I manage the onset of back pain, with the result that, not only have  I returned to running 4 times per week, but the constant pain has disappeared save for the odd niggle. Jacky’s knowledge about Pilates and general body conditioning, her infectious enthusiasm and friendly manner make a 1 hour Pilates session seem like 5 minutes and I cannot imagine a week without it. With the benefit of hindsight I wished I had started Pilates when I was 20 years younger, I would recommend it to anyone and I would recommend Jacky in particular

I have been attending classes with Jacky Pugh for over 4 years. She is very knowledgeable about the body and is able to diagnose postural problems and offer exercises to remedy the problem. Her classes are safe, fun and challenging. She is constantly researching and the classes benefit from this research and her attending courses. She is up to date with new developments in the field. We use a variety of equipment in the classes. I have also taken private sessions using her state of the art Pilates machines. I cannot recommend her highly enough!

I came back to Jacky’s Pilates classes after trying yoga. Pilates is exactly what I need after a day sitting at a desk.  If you are looking for a competent, patient and enthusiastic instructor, Jacky is the one.

Jacky Pugh has been instructing me in Pilates for many years and I continue to benefit from her considerable knowledge and experience. She tackles new problems with enthusiasm and works hard to resolve them using her knowledge gained from the many courses she has attended and the numerous reference books covering a broad spectrum of information that she keeps to hand. I am aware that she has helped many to resolve injury and post operative problems and she has also been involved in improving athletic performance and I am sure others will comment to this effect.
I have no hesitation in recommending her to you.

This is Pilates for active people!
I have always been keen on sport but previously felt that Pilates was for people who liked sedentary classes: not so! I was directed towards Jacky Pugh as part of a back injury rehabilitation process and was amazed at how progressive Pilates can be. After completing my rehab programme, I have continued to use Jacky for both private tuition and classes as Pilates keeps me in tip top order and it is a great, challenging work out.

After a back injury I decided to seek some friendly one-to-one studio time to regain some strength and stability. Jackie’s Pilates expertise and tailor-made exercises both helped to build my confidence in returning to a physically active lifestyle and improved my awareness of my body. A great investment.

I was referred to Jacky by my physiotherapist following major spinal surgery.  The physiotherapist’s I saw in the following months after my surgery all recommended Pilates as a major part of the rehabilitation process to aid recovery from spinal surgery both in stretching, moving and strengthening exercises.  I saw and continue to see Jacky privately at her clinic for one to one sessions.  Jacky was able to devise exercises specifically for me and my recovery.  She made me feel confident and comfortable in moving my back and body when I was feeling very nervous about it following the surgery.  When I would turn up to my session in a lot of pain Jacky would help me and I would leave feeling much more relaxed and with reduced pain.  I have found Pilates to be a great exercise regime for rehabilitation and will continue it as part of my daily life and recovery going forward.

I was finally referred to Jacky after a long round of other treatments, including physiotherapy, osteopathy and chiropractic had largely failed to solve a lower back problem.  After a course of private sessions with her the problem was brought under control.  I have since returned occasionally for refresher courses.  Jacky is fun and interesting to work with, very hardworking herself and generous with her time and energy. She works out an individual programme for each client, rather than applying the same techniques to everyone. I would recommend her unreservedly.
